The Memphis movement
This Italian art style of the ’80s, founded by architect and designer Ettore Sottsass, blended kitsch motifs and pop colors with geometric or asymmetrical shapes. Designers belonging to the movement sought to create objects and environments that were expressive, colorful and defied traditional conventions of good taste. Despite its relatively short life, the legacy of the Memphis movement lives on today. Its innovative ideas and unconventional approach continue to influence contemporary designers, and Memphis creations can be found in many museums and art collections around the world.
In Montech, Toulouse-based designers from theBakélite agency have revisited Memphis for the Pente d’Eau site.
