Verdun-sur-Garonne,

village heart!

Verdun sur Garonne, a medieval town well worth a visit!

35km from Toulouse and 2km from the Canal des Deux Mers, once you cross the Garonne, the town’s imposing ramparts, built into the rock, welcome visitors.

Medieval city

Like Montauban and Toulouse, this pink-brick town has preserved its medieval entrance, the 14th-century Tour de l’Horloge, and its majestic market hall. There are also numerous half-timbered houses and the 16th-century church of Saint-Michel Notre Dame, with its surprising grandeur and interior paintings.

A real step back in time!

What time of day is it?

Verdun-sur-Garonne hides 6 sundials in the heart of the village.

A special feature: each sundial is inscribed with a Latin phrase relating to the passing of time.

They are all oriented differently to follow the course of the sun throughout the day.

To find out the time, add one hour in winter and two hours in summer!

Heritage tours

Alone or accompanied

The tourist office offers a brochure of city tours to help you discover the history of Verdun sur Garonne at your own pace.

During the summer, guided tours are organized by the staff of the Intercommunal Tourist Office, allowing you to discover the history of the town as you wander through its narrow streets.

For groups, guided tours are available all year round, upon reservation.

On the market

all the flavours of the South-West

At the foot of the Tour de l’Horloge, on the Place de l’Éperon, every Friday morning, the market comes to life.

The markets of Tarn-et-Garonne are genuine opportunities to meet local producers and friendly locals!

On the banks of the Garonne, the land is fertile! There’s something for every taste in every season: asparagus, apples, peaches, strawberries, kiwis, pears, cherries, hazelnuts, shallots and more.
